The house in Lubbock sits on a little
over one acre with the majority of the acreage in the back.
In the summer it was loaded the stickers and such. The Beagles came in filthy.
We want to keep the beagles closer to the house in a area where we are trying to grow
grass. |
|
Our
solution was to fence in an area in the backyard. So we explored many options:
- We could put up a privacy fence - rejected because we wanted to see all the property
- We could put up a chain-link dog run - rejected because we wanted them to have more
freedom
- We could put up a picket fence - rejected because of too much high maintenance

At Lowe's Home Improvement store we found a
modular decorative fence called
Grand Empire. It was available in 37.75" x 48" sections. As their
advertisement says, "Graceful classic design; simple to install; and crafted steel-coated
for beauty. |

Backyard after a
rain storm
Why we need to grow grass. |
Fence extends
away from the house & is parallel to the pathway from the privacy fence gate. |
The fence turns
to the left in
front of the raised bed. |
|
|
We returned the
four gates that came
with this fence. The were much
shorter than the sections.
We just turned four of the
sections into gates.
Now the beagles have about
4000 SqFt play area. |
The raised beds
are
outside the beagle fence. |

her new fence. Well "admiring"
may not be the right word. |
This was a fairly easy do it yourself
project. Have to admit that it took longer
then we expected and caused many frustrated moments. We like the finished product.
Now if we can just get grass to grow and eliminate the beagles and us from tracking dirt
into the house. |
